Seasonal Allergies? Chiropractic Proven to Help

This white paper discusses the significance of the October of 2004 study published in the Internet Journal of Orthopedic Surgery called “Relationship Between Vertebral Deformities and Allergic Diseases.”

Allergies are the 6th leading cause of chronic illness in the U.S. with an annual cost of more than $18
billion. 50 million people in the U.S. alone suffer from allergies. Immunity cannot be felt. People simply feel the effects of disease or sickness from weakened immunity. The fact that subluxations link directly to a weakened immune system can provide great conviction for Chiropractors to boldly and relentlessly communicate a much-needed message of hope in any community. This study, connecting the dots between spinal misalignment and the immune system, prove the necessity for Chiropractic beyond bad backs. The results of the research are as follows:

▪ Atopic dermatitis and bronchial asthma patients were divided into groups and studied to evaluate the relationship between allergic disease and spinal misalignment.

▪ Manual spinal adjustment care was given to bronchial asthma and atopic dermatitis patients.

▪ Among 120 atopic dermatitis patients who received spinal correction treatments every day, 106 (88%) showed improvement in skin itching and 86 (72%) showed improvement in skin condition.

▪ It was found that vertebral misalignment is a common characteristic finding in patients with atopic dermatitis and bronchial asthma.

▪ The chronic vertebral misalignment were found only in the thoracic vertebrae region which corresponds to the innervation of the adrenal glands (T8-10).

▪ Correction of spinal misalignment improved the itching symptoms of chronic dermatitis patients by 88%.

▪ Correction of spinal misalignment improved skin appearance of chronic atopic dermatitis by 72%.

 ▪ Allergy symptoms improved in over 70% of patients who received spinal misalignment treatment.

 ▪ These results were only observed in patients which had been treated consistently for three to six months.

▪ Among the patients who did not receive spinal correction treatments consistently, there was no improvement.

▪ The study confirmed over 90% of allergy patients had vertebral misalignment and vertebral misalignment is a common and characteristic finding in patients with allergies, atopic dermatitis, and bronchial asthma.

Oncologists, Endocrinologists, and EENT doctors attend to their booked appointment schedules filled with patients seeking medicinal and surgical help with immune system problems. Though a time and place does exist for medications in emergency situations, many prefer more natural drug-free solutions if possible. Unfortunately, most of the public does not know about or understand the immune-boosting benefits of chiropractic care and how it can help such conditions as seasonal allergies. Education is the key! Chiropractors pride themselves on educating the public to help explain the value of regular spinal check-ups and adjustments when necessary to improve brain and nervous system function to optimize immunity.
