Proof that chiropractic treatment helps migraine sufferers

Image
Proof that chiropractic treatment helps migraine sufferers Seventy-two per cent of migraine sufferers in a clinical trial experienced either ‘substantial’ or ‘noticeable’ improvement after a period of chiropractic treatment, defying historical skepticism of chiropractics by some medical practitioners. The randomised clinical trial was undertaken by Dr Peter Tuchin, a chiropractor for the past 20 years, as part of his recently-completed PhD thesis at  Macquarie University . “Around 22 per cent [of patients] had substantial reduction – which means that more than 60 percent of their symptoms reduced during the course of the treatment,” Tuchin says. “What makes this a really strong result is that this was a really chronic group – the average length of time they’d had migraines was 18 years. To get a change of that sort of magnitude in a really chronic group was quite amazing. RELATED STORIES Penicillin allergy testing: an interview with Dr. Eric Macy Headache and migraine suf

One reason I wanted to mention this is because so many health and fitness professionals trash talk potatoes about being a bad carbohydrate choice because of the high glycemic index. Some even say such ridiculous things as “avoid any and all white carbohydrates”. Ok, now while I certainly agree that white bread and refined white sugar are two of the worst things we can be feeding our bodies, I definitely don’t agree with avoiding any and all “white carbohydrates”. Now I know al

How massage can help with stress Stress is universal, and it’s not always bad. Whenever you jump to catch a badly thrown ball, feel especially energetic before an important meeting, or hit the brakes in time to avoid a car accident, stress is doing its job. The adrenaline boosting your heart rate and the cortisol boosting your blood sugar, while diverting energy away from your digestive system and immune responses, are exactly what prehistoric humans needed to fight or flee attackers. However, when there’s never any relief from stress, the sustained fight-or-flight response can cause problems. In fact, WebMD warns that constant stress actually becomes “distress — a negative stress reaction. Distress can lead to physical symptoms including  headaches , upset stomach, elevated blood pressure, chest pain, and problems sleeping. Research suggests that stress also can bring on or worsen certain symptoms or diseases.” BEHAVIOR CHANGES Angry outbursts Drug or alcohol abuse Over
Can a bad spine and posture really cause disease? Chiropractors passionately pursue the mission of educating the community about the influence of regular Chiropractic adjustments on whole-body health. A family Chiropractor helps infants, children, and parents achieve optimal health and function. Continually developing science and research reaches new people every day, but Chiropractic science dates back nearly 125 years when doctors began to fully understand the devastating effects of a bad spine and posture on human health. Poor spinal and postural health decreases function of all organs and systems. Most people recall memories of parents and relatives demanding that children sit up straight or walk with correct posture. A ground-breaking study published in 2004 proved a significant relationship between bad posture and early death from atherosclerosis and pulmonary disease. Poor posture directly related to heart and lung related deaths. The actual study determined a 44% higher r
Back to school Chiropractic Tips This article is written by   Dr. Steven Cannon , Chiropractor – Neurohealth Chiropractic The kids are already back to school. For most people this means pencils, notebook paper an mountains of textbooks. But sending your child to start, or return to school requires some homework from the parents. Here at Neurohealth Chiropractic, we endeavor to be both your chiropractor and educator. So here are some tips for a healthy start Back-To-School: BACK CARE 101 Ergonomics:  yes ergonomics are just as important for kids as they are at the office. Slumping over a school classroom desk, just like slumping over a work desk, can lead to a lifetime of poor postural habits.
