Chiropractic provides a healthy alternative to antibiotics.

Image
American children under the age of 15 visit physicians for middle ear infections more than any other reason. Ear infections (otitis media) represent the most common cause for which antibiotics are prescribed for children. Almost 10% of children will have experienced an ear infection by the age of three months. Nearly 50% of children will experience three or more episodes of ear infection by the age of three. The annual cost associated with the management of pediatric ear infections lands around $5.3 billion . The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) advises an initial observation period for management of an ear infection. These clinical practice guidelines refer to deferring antibiotic treatment for 48-72 hours. The recommended observation period stems from research indicating antibiotic treatments should only be recommended when absolutely necessary due to the damage they inflict on the gastrointestinal tract. Despite this research, surveys conclude that only 15% of medical ph

Fibromyalgia and the role of Chiropractic

Image
This white paper discusses the significance of the 2014 study published in the Journal of Rehabilitation Research and Practice called “Effects of poster anterior thoracic mobilization on heart rate variability and pain in woman with fibromyalgia”. The amount of fibromyalgia sufferers increases steadily each year. A disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain accompanied by fatigue, sleep, memory and mood issues, fibromyalgia inhibits the ability to live a normal life. No cure currently exists for the disease, but many doctors and researchers spend time, money, and resources in search for the antidote. In 2014, a study evaluated changes that occurred in the health of fibromyalgia sufferers after receiving spinal adjustments. The findings were remarkable and as follows: ·        The purpose of the study was to evaluate the effects of one session of spinal adjusted care on both autonomic modulation and pain in women with fibromyalgia. The study was 20 women,

Babies need Chiropractic too!

Doctor, This white paper discusses the significance of the October of 2015 study published in the Journal of American Osteopathic Association called “Incidence in Somatic Dysfunction in Healthy Newborns.” An intimate relationship exists between the alignment and movement of the spine, and the function of the central nervous system. Chiropractic is known to help people with a variety of conditions, disorders, and symptoms due to the role of the spine on central nervous system function. But the benefits of chiropractic are not only for those who are suffering. Like a cavity, a small misalignment in the spine can occur before pain or symptoms arise. A popular question about chiropractic amongst healthcare providers and their patients center around the necessity of chiropractic care for babies, children, and adults in the presence or absence of symptoms. This study evaluated one-hundred newborns for the presence of somatic dysfunction, and the findings were remarkable.  ▪ The o

Seasonal Allergies? Chiropractic Proven to Help

Image
This white paper discusses the significance of the October of 2004 study published in the Internet Journal of Orthopedic Surgery called “Relationship Between Vertebral Deformities and Allergic Diseases.” Allergies are the 6th leading cause of chronic illness in the U.S. with an annual cost of more than $18 billion. 50 million people in the U.S. alone suffer from allergies. Immunity cannot be felt. People simply feel the effects of disease or sickness from weakened immunity. The fact that subluxations link directly to a weakened immune system can provide great conviction for Chiropractors to boldly and relentlessly communicate a much-needed message of hope in any community. This study, connecting the dots between spinal misalignment and the immune system, prove the necessity for Chiropractic beyond bad backs. The results of the research are as follows: ▪ Atopic dermatitis and bronchial asthma patients were divided into groups and studied to evaluate the relationship between all

How Sleep Is Affected By The Clocks Going Forward

Image
By Lisa Artis on March 20, 2018  How Sleep Is Affected By The Clocks Going Forward  The clocks spring forward this weekend heralding the start of British Summertime and bringing with it lots of positives – better weather, long summer nights and lighter mornings. However, the negative is we lose an hour of precious sleep. Some may ask what difference does that hour really make? But it does. It might only be 60 minutes – but it can be surprisingly challenging and waking up Monday morning may be even harder than it normally is. Moving our clocks in either direction re-sets our circadian rhythm which means for a few days our own internal body clocks becomes out of sync with our normal day/night cycle. How well we adapt to this depends on several things. Here are some of the more commonly asked questions when it comes to the clocks going forward. How long does it take to adapt to losing an hour of sleep? Within a day you should feel fine as our bodies are generally good at adj

Autism and Chiropractic

Doctor, This white paper discusses the significance of the study published in the 2013 Public Library of Science One Journal titled “Investigating the Autonomic Nervous System Response to Anxiety in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders.” Recent statistics reveal that one out of every sixty-eight children suffer with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). ASD is defined as a complex developmental disorder that can cause problems with thinking, feeling, language and the ability to relate to others. It is a neurological disorder, which affects the function of the brain. Science and research behind the neurological influence of a chiropractic adjustment explains why and how children and adults with autism can be helped. This research looked at autonomic nervous system function in children with autism The objectives of this study were to:  ▪ Examine whether anxiety causes significant measurable changes in indicators of the autonomic nervous system in an autism spectrum disorder(ASD) po
